As soon as application forms and registration fees are paid we will schedule our free online professional induction training for all staff. Your school will then be live on our platform and you can begin enrolling learners to experience our world-class online curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions

What about handwriting? Is it all on the computer?

Younger children are encouraged to write their notes out on paper as well as their projects. Written questions can also be written out instead of typed on a computer. All work is presented online but if schools wish their students to complete work in written format this can be done when completing Projects or Science Experiments as well as any other manually graded work.

What are the recommended hours to be online daily?

Generally speaking, a student needs to be completing 2 assignments per subject per day. As the assignments are of varying length, students should spend approximately 45 minutes per subject per day but this is subject to the length of assignment and number of sections per assignment coupled with the ability of the student. Please factor in all these components and remember to give students comfort and snack or food breaks throughout the day.

What are the minimum technical requirements?

The SwitchedOn digital curriculum platform has been developed and refined over many years to provide ease of access through low-tech entry points. This means easy and affordable access for computer hardware and software requirements to run our program it is recommended that Firefox is used.

Technical Specifications

How much of study time is required per day?

For best results, learners should spend approximately 4-6 hrs per day in a 5 day school week on the SwitchedOn curriculum. This can be easily managed alongside other activities or other tuition. As each 10 unit course is designed to be completed within a year this translates to 2 learning activities per learner per day.

Where do I find the Placement Tests?

You will find the Placement Tests when you type in “tests” in the Course Assignment screen.

Which Placement Tests do I assign?

Assign Math and Language Arts Placement Tests as these are CONCEPT subjects where prior knowledge is required. Mastery of previous work in these subjects are critical. The other subjects are CONTENT based. Learners should begin these subjects at their chronological grade level or reading level.

Are there any additional costs?

The cost includes access to ALL subjects within the SwitchedOn Education platform.
